As an organization, MNT strives for a deeper understanding of health.
Medical News Today is one of the fastest growing health information sites in the United States. Every month, more than 85 million people from across the globe come to Medical News Today for our in-depth health information and the latest news in medical research.
Medical News Today Hub Pages
The continual lifecycle of products and articles are key to MNT’s success in SEO. The strategy to create hub pages, per specific health condition, was initiated to capture search traffic now and in the future.
This project involved creating 50+ web pages with distinct hero art that spoke to the sensitive health conditions.
My role was to come up with an art direction that represented MNT’s tone and produce assets for: desktop + mobile hero art, thumbnails, and social sizes per social channels.
To meet this need, I created a collage language that allowed for nuance and emphasized feeling by using multiple images and textures. MNT’s visual identity is heavily influence by the London Punk scene of the 1970s. Through halftone textures, paper tears, and colors, I was able to create striking compositions that highlighted the emotions of each topic.
The result of these hub pages increased page views and click-throughs across social channels.

“In Conversation” Podcast by Medical News Today
Podcast cover art created for monthly episodes. Shortlisted for the Publisher Podcast Awards for “Best Health & Wellbeing Podcast”
In 2021, Medical News Today launched the “In Conversation” podcast. In Conversation podcast engages with expert voices across various fields. The conversations focus on a range of topics, from the latest news in science to the deepest scientific conundrums. Working with our news editors, we found a niche in the podcast space that MNT could fill.
Running with the art direction set by Diego Sabogal, my task was to create cover and social art for monthly podcasts. Working directly with the podcast editor, I took their inspiration from each episode and used an iconographic approach that celebrated the core message of the piece.
The close collaboration with podcast editors helped make each cover art feel poignant and standout in a crowded podcast space. As a result, In Conversation has been shortlisted for the “Best Health & Wellbeing Podcast” three years in a row (2021–2024).

Infographics
Infographics simplify complex information through visuals like charts and illustrations for easy understanding by audiences. As such, infographics for MNT serve as a valuable tool for communication and SEO.
When working with writers and editors, we often find ourselves faced with talking about complex topics and medical issues. Readers come to our website for quick-hitting articles. We have limited time to capture their attention and provide the information they are looking for.
One of my roles as a designer on MNT is to create medical and editorial infographics that distill complex information into quick, bite-sized graphics.
To meet that challenge of attention span and complexity, I work in tandem with editors to shorten copy and create interesting illustrations that capture engagement and explain the inner workings of a topic.
The outcome of these infographics has increased engagement time and boosted SEO numbers by driving more traffic to our site.
Medical Myth Series
In our Medical Myths series, we approach medical misinformation head on. Using expert insight and peer reviewed research to wrestle fact from fiction, MNT brings clarity to the myth riddled world of health journalism.
Medical Myths called for a visually distinct collage direction for this series. Due to the nature of a spontaneous publishing cycle and the design team’s work capacity, I devised a way to make the workflow process more efficient with our writers. The method was to create batches of illustrations that was general enough that they could work with any topic. The result gave our writers the flexibility to publish fast when there’s breaking news or when timely news events occur.
