Final 3D printed bionicle replica
[Fall 2011]
Professor: David Celento / Arch 231 Digital Modeling Rotation
Project Duration: 3 Weeks
The focus of this studio rotation was to obtain a firm understanding of translating bytes to built, which takes a digital model into a built form. In order to learn about the 3D modeling software, Rhinoceros, the objective was to replicate a Bionicle piece in excruciating detail. Using a "learn as you go approach," students had to measure and translate the plastic component and construct a 3D model in Rhinoceros. Once modeled in the software, the piece was examined for faults and prepared for 3D printing.
